About Dan - continued . . .
Since 1989 I’ve been training, coaching, and consulting with organizations that want to improve their effectiveness. It’s been 18 years of fulfillment. I love making a postive impact in the workplace, where my work affects thousands of people for the better.
+ + +
That was the short version. For those who want to know a little more detail, I’m a training specialist, columnist, and author, plus I do keynote speaking. In addition to being the director of the Center for Workplace Excellence, I’m also the president of Leadership Development, Inc., where I’ve been conducting workforce and management training for more than 18 years.
My passion is removing obstacles to success. It’s my favorite challenge. Nothing beats finding and removing barriers (often invisible) that are holding people back, and letting their natural motivations take them to new heights.
Here a few client comments that make a business owner proud:
“This is the best money the bank has ever spent.”
- Tami Ferguson, Area Manager
Vice President of Retail Operations, Washington Trust Bank
“In my 25 years working I’ve been through many similar programs. This one is the best — by far!”
- Ralph Freidrich, Production Supervisor
McCain Foods, USA
Thank you to Tami and Ralph, and to the hundreds of others who’ve made similar comments about the impact of the work I’ve done over the years.

Getting a Little More Personal:
On the personal side, my hobbies include playing guitar, bass guitar, and woodworking. I have a lab/beagle mix who’s the smartest dog in the world, two hand-fed cockatiels named Fido and Spot (one of which thinks it’s people), and two canaries, Lady and the Tramp.
In addition to posting regularly here on the blog, I write a weekly syndicated column called Workplace Excellence that also appears on Management-Issues.com, Hodu.com, and JobDig.com. My writing has also shown up in the Times of London, CXO magazine, My Business, The Journal of the Institute of Management Services, plus a few more.
See Me In Person!
Since I have a lot to say about workplace excellence and removing obstacles to success, if you have a conference or corporate event coming up and you’re looking for a speaker, inquire about my schedule. I’ve got plenty of references.

If I’m not speaking, training, writing columns, or blogging, I have a lonnnnggggg list of books I want to write. They’re all on slow-cook at the moment, but we’ll be able to stick a fork in them and call ‘em done before too long. In the mean time, check out some of the books I’ve already written.

The Center for Workplace Excellence specializes in Train the Trainer workshops and The Manager as Trainer classes.
My prevailing philosophy: Managers need to learn to think like trainers, equipping their teams with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for workplace excellence.
