Administrative Professionals’ Day … er, um, Week.
See? I missed it again. I’m convinced (tongue in cheek) that my absent-mindedness is the reason Admin Professionals have an Administrative Professionals WEEK: So that I can save face and still acknowledge them AFTER the official “Administrative Professionals Day,” which I almost always forget.
These folks are really looking out for me–thank you–just like they usually look out for everyone where they work. (You really don’t want to get on the wrong side of the admin assistant!!)
NOTE: You might want to read the history of how Adminstrative Professionals Week got started.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for administrative support people. They are truly the glue that holds a company together, despite what us managers and executives may think. All it takes is for one good admin assistant to leave a company and we can watch how fast things start getting chaotic.
I am curious to know how administrative people are being recognized, whether it be this week or throughout the year.
And, perhaps more importantly, how administrative professionals perceive the operations going on around them and how things could be better. This is, after all, a blog about workplace excellence.
Admin professionals – You are among the unsung heroes of any organization, yet rarely do people ask you now things could be better. Here’s your chance – tell us!

Being an Admin Assistant, I personally think that we need to be recognized more often that just Administrative Professionals Week (I still haven’t seen anything from the boss). I do so much for the company that I work for and the only time I think I really get any attention from my co-workers is when I do something wrong. I may hear from other people what a great job I do, but it would mean more if I heard it from my boss. Just saying “Thank You”, “You had such a great idea”, or “Great Job” goes a long way!
