ASTD publishes one of my articles on management
As a longstanding member of ASTD, I am honored to be published in their monthly LINKS – a regular benefit to ASTD’s members reporting on what’s new regarding ASTD, from chapter news to public policy about training issues—and a lot in between.
Included in each is issue of LINKS is a feature titled In Practice, which is a colleague-to-colleague forum in which members contribute what’s working in their areas of practice.
This month’s In Practice section contains an article I wrote titled Helping Managers Learn to be Managers, which emphasizes the need for new managers to shift how they think. I argue that for new managers to be successful, they must learn to think like a manager, and stop relying on the processes that made them successful in the rank-and-file.
A large part of that shift means managers must start thinking like trainers!
(The link above should give you access to the article)
Thanks to ASTD’s Field Editor Michael Kroth for asking me to put pen to paper on this topic, and for passing it along to ASTD’s editors.
