Cool things to do for your employees in April
April is upon us, and if you’re looking for some inexpensive things to do to give your workplace a bit of fun, maybe one of these might help:
April is National Garden Month – maybe buy an inexpensive plant for everyone on your team. If you’re really creative, you can pick out different types of plants for the different personalities. If you have a solid enough relationship, maybe a cactus for the guy with the prickly sense of humor?
April is also national Frog Month. You could get a copy of Brian Tracy’s Eat that Frog book to pass around the office. OR – You could get a copy of my book Living Toad Free for everyone, and say that you think frogs are just a bit too slimy.
The first week of April is also “Clean Out Your Refrigerator Week.” In some offices I’m aware of, it might take all week just to do that. (If you don’t have a fridge at work, you might unofficially announce “Clean Out Your Inbox Week.” It might take a week just to do that, too!)
The third week in April is National Wildlife Week. If you’re able, you could sponsor a “bring your pet to work day.” Just be careful that someone’s Doberman doesn’t eat someone’s cockatiel.
And of course, the last full week in April is Administrative Professionals Week. I believe the official day is Wednesday, April 25. Trivia: It used to be only one day, but I think they lobbied to make it a full week of celebration so us “forgetful” types might actually remember by Friday.
Admin Professionals week is a DO NOT MISS. These folks make the world go ‘round.
Oh, one more: April is also International Guitar Month, but I would advise against having people bring their guitars into work. That’s just asking for trouble.
