Gary Harpst is coming out with another winner
Longtime readers know that I’m a fan of Gary Harpst’s work. His Six Disciplines for Excellence book made the top of my recommended reading list for 2007, and his Six Disciplines company is helping companies do what they NEED to do to achieve excellence.
So I was pretty tickled when the Six Disciplines company asked me to give some feedback on an advance copy of Gary’s next book, Execution Evolution.
After reading it, I can pretty much guarantee it will make my list of recommended reads for 2008. Once again, Gary’s expertise and his straightforward, no-nonsense writing style—coupled with humility from his own business experiences—gets us to see what many have been struggling to put our fingers on for years (including me):
Either we’re doing great on execution and lousy on strategy, or we’re doing great on strategy and lousy on execution. Of course, some of us occasionally descend into doing lousy on both!
Getting to simultaneous excellence in strategizing AND executing is what Gary sees as the key to enduring success.
Not there? You can let down your guard. Gary shows us that hardly anybody is. And those that do get there have a tough time staying there. The good news is that Gary’s book should be out by April, and in it he explains four key ingredients to create enduring success. In other words, we’re all going to have a plan to get there.
Never have I heard it explained so well. This one’s going to be a “must read.”
