Is the IRS softening its approach?
For those who haven’t yet heard, a recent notice from the US Chamber of Commerce says that the IRS is now putting out a helpful weekly e-newsletter – for free.
That’s right, something different from the cold, formal, and usually grimace-causing business envelopes we’re accustomed to seeing.
Titled e-News for Small Businesses, their new Wednesday publication is a nice change of pace. I especially like that they’re bringing tips to small business (the backbone of America). These efforts may actually cut down on people having to scour hundreds of pages of fine print written in legalese on their website.
Especially when the item we’re looking for is not where WE think it should be.
(see my rant on e-mail only customer service to find out how I really feel about companies that force us to wade through FAQ pages!)
Anyway, you might sign up for the new e-Newsletter from the IRS … and then down the road let’s do a little poll. I’d love to hear your responses on what you like / don’t like about this new, more educational approach the IRS is taking.
SIDE NOTE: If you’re a small business owner / sole proprietor (or if you do the taxes for someone who fits this description), the IRS also has some online learning modules that teach what we need to know about our taxes. Another nice touch for small business owners.
