Put a job posting as a blog entry? Why not?
This morning, while catching up on the news that interests me via my Google reader, I came across a blog entry that was actually a job posting. At first I thought it odd, but then I thought, “Why not?”
The headline was “Want to be a __(job title)__? Join __(name of company)__!”
The job description was written in a friendly format — mostly conversational — but it was still a job description. At the end of the post was listed the “must have” qualifications and how to apply for the job, just like any other job announcement.
Following my curiosity, I checked to see if job postings were the ONLY thing on this blog — and they were NOT! In fact, there were no other job postings on this blog!
I share this as an idea for the all who are looking for the “right” employees. It’s a novel idea, and from at least one angle, anyway, it makes great sense: You will be “advertising” to people who are already interested in your company and what you do.
It’s one thing to say “we have a job opening …” and put a link to a job announcement that’s posted somewhere else. It’s something completely fresh to put the actual job announcement on a blog post. It will be curious to see if this trend catches on. In the mean time — if you’ve done this, or if you’re going to try it, let me know how it works. I’m curious!
