Team building, Google alerts, and a recommended read
Earlier this week, in my syndicated column, I wrote about the need for managers to engage team members to help each one see how his/her individual passions contribute to the team’s mission and vision. (You can read that column here.)
The topic was adapted from my latest book, Creating Passion-Driven Teams. And, because l like to see what people are saying about the book, I have a “Google Alert” set up on the phrase “Passion Driven Teams.” An unintended benefit of that alert is I’ve been “alerted” to many excellent bloggers who write on the same subject! One that came across my desktop this morning is Lewis Green, with his BizSolutionsPlus blog. Green’s latest post, “The Insurance Industry is Immoral” is a must read. Don’t let the title fool you — Green springboards from a quote by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and makes a great case for understanding the real components of what makes a business tick.
In his post, Green says, “A great team melds individual competencies, skills, strengths, and passion to achieve success. Each member has his or her own sense of business logic, and applies it within their area of expertise.”
Amen to that! It made me wonder if Green had read my column (j/k). Really, it’s just nice to see that other people also preach the truth about what really matters.
After scoping out other posts in Green’s blog, I believe it would be worth your time to check it out.
